New Zealand the North Island (Te Ika-a-Māui) is the most populated area of New Zealand and offers a lot of hiking spots.

There are two types of mountains in the North Island: volcanic peaks in the centre of the island and Mt Taranaki in the west; and the axial ranges along the east coast
